The Taishan watchtower was mostly built by overseas Chinese contributing money in the 20's or 30’s in order to guard against the thieves .These watchtowers with three or four storeys are made of green brick or ganite ,and mostly of reinforced concrete .There are the embrasures on the four sides of the wall.With the protruding four sides,the top storey looks like the balcony .There are also the embrasures at the bottom of the” balcony ".The door and window is not very big, which is made of thick steel , so the whole watchtower is unusually secure.
  In the 20th to 30th years , overseas Chinese of Taishan returned to hometown and built the western-style buildings , of which are watchtower type .The watchtowers therefore stand in great numbers in Taishan. It is estimated that the quantity of the watchtower is more than 5000 .
   The watchtowers of Taishan are roughly distributed in the area of hills such as Doushan town,Duanfen town,and Sanhe town. They are generally built in the place of communication's centre before and after the village.
  In those years , the watchtower was built in order to guard against the thieves , and after liberation , these watchtowers have become the historical remains.
